Earlier this week, Disney announced that it will be releasing a special version of the Marvel Studios Special Presentation, “Werewolf By Night”, which will be available in vibrant colours and will be released on Disney+ on Friday, 20th October 2023.

Marvel Studios’ “Werewolf by Night in Color” takes place on a dark and somber night as a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When the Special Presentation was originally released last October, one of the most compelling aspects of the film was that it was in black and white, which was a nod to the classic horror movies of the past and made it stand out from the rest of the recent Marvel releases.  Leading to many fans questioning why a colour version of the special is being released.

“Werewolf By Night” was directed by Michael Giacchino, who has taken to social media to share a little snippet of information on the new colour version of “Werewolf By Night” being released:

We spent a lot of time working on this color version. We wanted to pay homage to the incredible vibrant color in horror films like the ones Hammer made. A whole new look for #werewolfbynight

So it sounds like the new version of “Werewolf By Night” has had a little more thought put into it and could make a big difference to the overall presentation.

The original black and white version of “Werewolf By Night”, is available to stream on Disney+ now and it was also added on to Hulu this past week for a limited time.
