Disney is looking to bring another classic 80’s movie to Disney+ with a new series and it’s Turner & Hooch.  The series has been in the works for a while and is looking close to being green lit according to Deadline.

This movie was a huge hit when it was released in 1989 and starred Tom Hanks, who was a police detective and he ended up having to look after a murder victims dog, while trying to solve the case.  The series looks to be continuing this premise.

20th Century Fox TV is working on this new series with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix, who has a overall deal with with Fox, which has resulted in shows like Marvel’s The Gifted.  Matt Nix will be working on the project as the series writer and executive producer.

Disney has tried turning Turner & Hooch into a TV series in the past, with ABC making a half-hour pilot, but they replaced Tom Hanks with Thomas F Wilson, but kept the original dog.  It never made it to being a full series, but Disney did release it as part of their ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney show in July 1990.

The original Turner & Hooch movie is available to stream now on Disney+.
