Disney has announced that the documentary film, “Trap Jazz”, is coming to Disney+ in Canada on Friday, 27th October 2023.  The film was released on Hulu earlier this year.

Chris Moten, Cassius Jay, and Devon “Stixx” Taylor are three best friends from Atlanta who share one incredible gift — they are all classically trained jazz players working with some of the world’s top Trap and Hip Hop artists. Each of them feels that Jazz is slowly losing its ‘identity’ and their mission is to bring it back to the mainstream through the musical vehicle of Trap. Trap Jazz follows them on an uncertain journey of stepping out of the supportive shadows and into the spotlight. Whether they fail or succeed, this is their chance to give back to the one genre of music that lives inside their being. This is their love letter to Jazz.

The film has been directed by Sadé Clacken Joseph and is part of Andscape, which is a Black-led media platform dedicated to creating, highlighting, and uplifting the diverse stories of Black identity. Magnified by the power and reach of The Walt Disney Co., the Andscape umbrella includes an editorial division, book publishing arm, film and television division, and music publishing group, each united by the shared mission of illuminating the culture and experience of Blackness.
