During today’s quarterly financial results call, Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that it is going to be leaning in more heavily on its brands and franchises, which will include new sequels to some of its biggest franchises, including “Toy Story”, “Zootopia” and “Frozen.

Bob Iger said:

“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia. we’ll have more to share about these productions soon. but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises,”

With all of these franchises having billion-dollar box office hits, massive merchandise sales and providing a boost to theme parks, it’s not surprising to see Disney is planning on making more films.

No other details have been provided on when these films will be coming out, these are likely to be years away, but with some of the recent films like “Strange Worlds”, “Raya And The Last Dragon”,  and “Onward” not pulling in the usual numbers due to the pandemic and a change in audience habits.

All three franchises are some of the most watched films on Disney+, so it shows the demand for more stories with these popular characters will likely make these future sequels successful.
