Tom Holland Gives Update On “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

Filming on the upcoming fourth “Spider-Man” film, which will be called “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and will see Tom Holland return as your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

The upcoming movie will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and the Disney+ series, “American Born Chinese”, and the upcoming Marvel show, “Wonder Man”.

Not much is known about the upcoming film, but during a recent appearance on the YouTube series “Flip Your Wig”, Tom Holland revealed that the new film will offer viewers a “breath of fresh air.”

He revealed that the upcoming film is going to be very different because of how they are planning on filming it.

“I am obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages, and now we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow. We’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we’re putting together.”

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to be released in cinemas on July 31st 2026. Also set to return for the new film will be Zendaya, along with Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear). Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige will both be executive producers on the film.

Roger’s Take:  There’s little doubt that the pandemic drastically changed how the third film was made, and that also resulted in a significant rise in the production costs.  While the last “Spider-Man” movie made almost $2 billion dollars at the box office, we’re seeing a massive decline in the general box office results in superhero movies, so it makes complete sense as to why Sony and Marvel are trying to scale back how they make movies, as the way superhero movies have been made over the past decade just isn’t sustainable.
