Tom Ellis & Emma Roberts To Star In ‘Second Wife’ Series
20th Television is developing a new half-hour dark comedy series called “Second Wife”, which is going to be created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and Emma Roberts, who are the team behind the Hulu/Star Original series, “Tell Me Lies”.
The new series is going to star Tom Ellis, who has previously starred in “Lucifer” and “Miranda”. He will also be starring in the upcoming Hulu/Star Original limited series “Washington Black”. Emma Roberts will also be starring in this new series, and she will also be executive producing the show through her Belletrist TV banner. Emma has previously starred in “Scream Queens”, “Abandoned”, and “About Fate”.
“Second Wife” is a romantic dramedy about the ups and downs of a blended family. Fresh off a terrible breakup, Sasha (Roberts) flees her life in New York to start over in London, where she meets and quickly falls in love with a recently divorced father named Jacob (Ellis). When they impulsively decide to get married, they will soon learn that there’s a lot they don’t know about each other – and they can’t outrun their pasts forever. Darkly comedic in tone, Second Wife is an exploration of intimacy, failure, and second chances.
Meaghan Oppenheimer will be an executive producer and showrunner on the project. She has previously worked on “The Remains”, “The Blacklist”, “Broken”, and “Fear The Walking Dead”.
The series will be released on Hulu in the United States, and with the series being created by 20th Television, it’s likely that this will be released as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world. No release date has yet been announced for “Second Wife”.
