Disney is getting ready to go into production on a sequel to the popular Halloween film “Hocus Pocus” for Disney+.  While no casting has yet been officially announced, the films original witches, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy have all openly discussed return to play the characters.

Recently, actress Thora Birch also teased her involvement in the project, saying 2022 will be “Mah-velous!”

In the original film, Thora Birch played Dani, who helped defeat the Sanderson Sisters, who had been resurrected after 300 years to exact revenge and begin a reign of terror after Max, a young boy who moves to Salem with his family, lights a cursed Candle of Black Flame.

Recently, “Disenchanted” director Adam Shankman, took to social media to tease that some “Hocus Pocus 2” news would be revealed soon. During Disney’s Investor Day event in December, the film was officially confirmed, and that Adam Shankman would be directing the film. However, he has had to step aside due to scheduling issues with filming the “Enchanted” sequel, “Disenchanted”.

Her comments also could indicate that the film will be released in 2022, which is likely to be around Halloween, which would make sense since Hocus Pocus 2 is currently scheduled to begin filming later this year in Salem and other areas in Massachusetts.
