Another one bites the dust, as the cancellations continue at Disney as it looks to cut back on the amount of general entertainment it creates to save money, THR has reported that Hulu has cancelled the series two seasons after the show failed to find an audience large enough to justify a third season.

“This Fool” is an irreverent, cinematic half-hour comedy set in working-class South Central Los Angeles. The show centres around Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old who still lives at home, has been dating his girlfriend on and off since high school, and finds any excuse to avoid dealing with his own problems. Julio works at Hugs Not Thugs, a gang rehabilitation non-profit, where he butts heads with his older cousin Luis, an ex-gang member who just got out of prison and moved in with Julio and his family.

The first season was released in the summer of 2022 on Hulu in the United States, Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+, with a second season arriving in July 2023.

The show starred Chris Estrada in the main role of “Julio”, and it also starred Frankie Quinones (“Luis”), Laura Patalano (“Esperanza”), Michelle Ortiz (“Maggie”), Julia Vera (“Maria”) and Michael Imperioli (“Minister Payne”).

“This Fool” was written and executive produced by Chris Estrada, Pat Bishop, Jake Weisman and Matt Ingebretson. Jonathan Groff and Fred Armisen also serve as executive producers on the series. ABC Signature produced the Hulu Original comedy series.

Earlier this week, the show’s creator and star, Chris Estrada, was still replying to fans of the show requesting a third season, and he was still waiting to hear from Hulu about the show’s future.

With any recent cancellation, if you haven’t finished watching the show or haven’t seen it yet but want to, I’d recommend doing so sooner rather than later, since Disney has been ruthless in removing cancelled shows from Hulu and Disney+ to save money.  THR has said that there are reportedly no plans to remove the show, but I’d still air on the side of caution with this.
