“The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives” Becomes Most Watched Unscripted Premiere On Hulu & Disney+
Recently, Disney released a brand reality documentary series called “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives“, which tells the story of a group of Mormon mom influencers implodes when they get caught in the midst of a swinging sex scandal that makes international headlines. Now, their sisterhood is shaken to its core. Faith, friendship and reputations are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive and continue to give the rulebook a run for its money, or will this group fall from grace?
According to The Wrap, “The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives” has been a massive hit for Disney, as it has become the most-watched unscripted premiere of the year so far at Hulu, based on three days of streaming data on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States.
The series has also broken records internationally. Based on four days of streaming, it has become the most watched unscripted premiere on Disney+ across all global markets. Ironically, the show wasn’t really promoted internationally, and Disney only started promoting the show in some countries like the UK, once Disney realised it was popular and they had a winner on their hands.
Previously, the record was held by “The Kardashians”, which saw the fifth season premiere earlier this year, pulling in 3.9M views globally in its first four days across Hulu, Disney+ and Star+.
The series is produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions (‘Bling Empire,’ ‘The McBee Dynasty,’ ‘My Unorthodox Life’), in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative . Executive producers are Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Andrea Metz, Brandon Beck and Eric Monsky at Jeff Jenkins Productions, Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG, and Danielle Pistotnik, Georgia Berger, and Lisa Filipelli at Select Management Group.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to see audiences have connected with Disney’s new reality series, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some more seasons of this series in the future, especially with it beating out “The Kardashians” in terms of viewership. While there is a lot of attention on scripted drama, reality series do have plenty of people who enjoy something that gives a peek into a different world.
You can find all eight episodes of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The series is also available as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world.
