Disney loves to take advantage of its established franchises and next year, it’s going to be releasing a sequel to the hit movie, “The Devil Wears Prada”.

The original film was released in 2006 by 20th Century Studios and tells the story of what happens when Andy, a young graduate, with an aspiration to become a journalist, travels to New York. She starts working as an assistant to one of the city’s biggest magazine editors, the cynical Miranda Priestly.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at the American Institute for Stuttering’s 19th Annual Gala, Emily Blunt confirmed that production on the sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” is due to begin production in July 2025.  Emily said:

“Am I allowed to say that? Can you tell I’m skirting the issue? Can you tell I can’t tell you anything?”

When asked about what her character is up to after all these years, Emily added:

“It’s so weird, I haven’t even read a script. I don’t know. I’m just like, ‘Where is she?’ I don’t know.”

No other details on the upcoming sequel have been revealed, such as who will be star in the movie, though its expected to see Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep also return.

No other casting has been confirmed yet, nor any details on the plot, though there was a sequel book released in 2013 called “Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns” which follows Andy as the editor for a new bridal magazine while planning her own wedding and living in fear of her inevitable reunion with Miranda Priestley.

The untitled sequel will be released in cinemas on May 1st 2026, so we should expect it to arrive on Disney+ a few months later.

The original “Devil Wears Prada” movie is available to stream now on Disney+.
