Sydney Chandler Reveals When “Alien: Earth” Season 2 Begins Filming

One of the biggest hits of 2025 was FX’s “Alien: Earth”, which was inspired by Sir Ridley Scott’s legendary sci-fi thriller franchise.

The show tells the story of what happens when the mysterious deep-space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth. “Wendy” and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.

Late last year, Disney announced that it had renewed the show for a second season, and filming was set to begin in London in 2026.  During a recent interview, the show’s star, Sydney Chandler, told Deadline that filming is scheduled to begin in May.   The first season was filmed in Thailand, but production is moving to the UK, which is where many of the “Alien” films were also made.

Production is getting ramped up, as the show’s EP/producing director Dana Gonzales took to social media to say:

“Super excited to start the journey of @alienearthfx season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace.”

The cast of season one of Alien: Earth starred Sydney Chandler and showcased an expansive ensemble cast, which includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El.

FX’s “Alien: Earth” is created for television and executive-produced by Noah Hawley. Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi and Simon Emanuel also serve as executive producers. “Alien: Earth” is produced by FX Productions.

The first season of “Alien: Earth” is available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.

Roger’s Take:  With filming set to begin in May, I very much doubt we are going to see the second season of “Alien: Earth” arrive on Hulu and Disney+ until late next year, as with at least a few months of filming and then lots of post-production with special effects, it’s unlikely to hit our screens this year.  The first season was one of my favourite shows of 2025, and I’m more than happy to wait a little longer for the new one.
