For this year’s Star Wars Day, which takes place on May 4th, Disney is going to re-release “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” in cinemas for just one week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie’s release in 1999.
Disney has also announced that on May 4th, selected cinemas will also be doing a mega Star Wars marathon, which includes all nine episodic films in chronological order:
- Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
- Star Wars: A New Hope
- Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

To accompany these theatrical re-releases, Disney has announced that fans will also be treated to an exclusive look at the upcoming Disney+ series, “The Acolyte,” as part of The Phantom Menace screenings.
In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….
The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The first two episodes of “The Acolyte” will be released on Disney+ on June 4th 2024, with a new episode being released weekly. And all of these Star Wars films are also available to stream now on Disney+.
