“Star Wars: The Acolyte” Creator Reveals How Many Seasons She’d Like To Make
Next week, Disney will release the first two episodes of a brand new original series, “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” on Disney+ worldwide.
In “The Acolyte,” an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master against a dangerous warrior from his past. As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….
The new show has been created by Leslye Headland, who is an executive producer on the project and directed the first two episodes. During a recent interview with Collider to promote the new show, Leslye was asked about how many seasons she would need if she had complete creative freedom, to tell the full story.
“At least three. At least. I mean, I’d love to keep doing it forever. I would be chill if this was, like, my only job for a long time.
Leslye continued to share her excitement over the new series and highlighted how long she’d like to work on Star Wars.
That’s how I feel too! This is my dream job. I’m saying three because I’m hoping they’ll allow me to do that , but if I could snap my fingers, it would just be, this is my job until I retire. I actually can’t think of a higher creative or career peak than working on Star Wars . So, I really am good. I don’t really need to do anything else.”
So far, “The Mandalorian” has received three seasons, before Mando and Grogu head to the big screen for their next adventure. “The Book Of Boba Fett” didn’t go down as well with audiences, and there has been no news of a potential second season. And we already know “Andor” will have a second season, which has already wrapped filming and will be released on Disney+ next year. “Andor” was created with a limited timeline being available due to the events of “Rogue One”, and the creator has talked openly about how it’s been refreshing knowing how they have a certain amount of episodes to make and have a target for the story to hit.
While “Obi-Wan Kenobi” was set up as a single-season limited series, and “Ahsoka” is more open to potential seasons, and we know there will be a second season. This makes making predictions about how many seasons “The Acolyte” could run almost impossible!
Roger’s Take: It’s not currently clear how many seasons “The Acolyte” will have, and it will no doubt depend on how fans and viewers react to the show. If the viewership is good and the show drives new subscribers, the chances of more seasons will be improved. This is like any original streaming show, and it will depend on the viewing numbers. Of course, the creators of the show would want to continue to keep working, but I also like how she’s setting up just three seasons, which feels like a reasonable run and with this show being set in an era completely separate from anything else, it’s got an easier path to tell new stories, without being limited by the original movies timeline.
