Earlier this year, it was announced that Leslye Headland was working on a new female-led Star Wars live-action series for Disney+.

During the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced early details on a new Star Wars series called “The Acolyte”.

Leslye Headland, Emmy Award-nominated creator of the mind-bending series Russian Doll, brings a new Star Wars series to Disney+ with The Acolyte.

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.

In the all-new era of the glorious HIGH REPUBLIC, the noble and wise Jedi Knights must face a frightening threat to themselves, the galaxy, and to the Force itself…

Star Wars: The High Republic launches in January 2021 with original stories spanning a variety of books, comics, and beyond.  No release date for “The Acolyte” for Disney+ was announced.
