Earlier this year, at the Star Wars Celebration event in London, England, it was announced that Daisy Ridley would be returning to reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film, set years after the events of “The Rise Of Skywalker” and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.

The upcoming film is going to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who has previously directed the Disney+ Original series, “Ms. Marvel,” and is based on a script by Steven Knight, who has previously worked on “Peaky Blinders”.

Very little is known about the new Star Wars film, though Daisy Ridley recently revealed that the:

The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited.”

According to a new listing on Production List, filming on the new untitled Star Wars project is due to begin filming in London, England, on April 7th 2024.

The listing also states that Kathleen Kennedy is a producer on the project, with Justin Britt-Gibson and Damon Lindelof as writers, though both of those writers were reported to have left the project earlier this year.

Over the past few years, Lucasfilm has been focused on creating shows for Disney+ like “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “The Mandalorian”, resulting in many Star Wars film projects never getting far into production.

Hopefully, filming on the next Star Wars film will go as planned.  Lucasfilm announced two other films at the Star Wars Celebration, including one that’s set years before the events of “The Phantom Menace” and another with new Chief Creative Officer, Dave Filoni, directing, that is set to bring together all the events of his Disney+ shows like “Ahsoka”, “Skeleton Crew” and “The Mandalorian”.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that he wants Lucasfilm to refocus on theatrical releases and to slow down the number of releases to repair the damage done by churning out too many projects over the past few years, damaging the brand.

While we wait for this new Star Wars film, in the meantime, you can find all three of Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars films on Disney+ now.
