Earlier this year, at the Star Wars Celebration event in London, England, it was announced that Daisy Ridley would be returning to reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film, set years after the events of “The Rise Of Skywalker” and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.

The upcoming film is going to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who has previously directed the Disney+ Original series, “Ms. Marvel,” and is based on a script by Steven Knight, who has previously worked on “Peaky Blinders”.

Recently, Daisy Ridley spoke with Collider, at the Sundance Film Festival to promote her new movie, “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and revealed some insights into her surprise announcement at Star Wars Celebration.

“I will tell you, Steve, when I saw you in Park City, I had not been approached. I was asked some, not by you, but I was asked something when I was there and strangely, people were asking me stuff and I was like, “No, I’m not doing another one.” Then it all happened after I came back. It was such a nice reception. I was shitting myself before I went on stage, because no one knew I was going to that. No one knew I was going to Celebration, bar like Kathy [Kennedy] and there were a couple of people. I was so nervous. Oh my God. It was such a wonderful reception. I’m very excited. The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited.”

Currently, very little is known about the upcoming Star Wars film, such as what the plot of the film is, who else, other than Daisy, is going to be starring in it or when it’s going to be released. However, Daisy did expand a little on the story and whether this is going to be part of a new trilogy or just a standalone project.

“I know the storyline for one film. That’s not to say that that’s all it is, but that’s what I was told about. And I imagine it will be the next film, I think. I mean, again, I don’t know, post strikes and everything, how quickly everything will start up again. But yes, so far, I know the story of one film and I think people will be very excited.”

With Star Wars trying to slow down on the amount of Disney+ shows it puts out, to help fend off franchise fatigue, this next movie is going to have to repair a lot of the damage done to the franchise that both “The Rise Of Skywalker” and “The Last Jedi” have done.  So the story is going to have to be very good.

Hopefully, we find out more about this upcoming film pretty soon, but in the meantime, you can find all three of Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars films on Disney+ now.
