During Sony’s presentation at this year’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, details were officially revealed about the next installment in the “Spider-Man” franchise, which will see Tom Holland return as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The upcoming movie is going to be called “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and will be released in cinemas on July 31st 2026.  Due to the licensing deal with Sony, the film won’t come to Disney+ straight after its theatrical release.  However, in the United States, following its theatrical release, it will go to Netflix for 18 months before eventually coming to Disney+ for its Pay 2 window two years later.

It will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Marvel’s “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and the upcoming Disney+ series, “Wonder Man”.

Destin took to the stage during the Sony Presentation and said that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start” and added:

“Everyday right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before.

They tell me it’s tradition to tell you something about the film, that no one knows. We do have a trailer even though we didn’t share anything,”

A video was shown on the screen with Tom Holland thanking those exhibitors and stating that “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger,” which is a reference to the final events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, where Doctor Strange made a magic spell so everyone would forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man including MJ and Ned.

“Brand New Day” is also a reference to the comic book storyline that came out in 2008, which dealt with the after effects of everyone forgetting Spider-Man’s secret identity.

Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will produce the fourth movie. Zendaya will return for the new film, and it’s previously been reported that “Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink will join the cast.
