Sony Developing “Goosebumps” Series For Disney+
Following the success of R.L.Stine’s “Just Beyond” Disney+ series, another series from the author is now heading to Disney+ Variety is now reporting that Sony Pictures Television is now developing a new series based on the “Goosebumps” franchise.
“Goosebumps” is one of the best-selling book series of all time and has sold more than 400 million copies of the book series, which spans 200 different books.
This new series has been in development since April 2020 and has a 10-episode order for Disney+. Disney took to social media to share the news officially.
The new “Goosebumps” series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.
This new series is being written by Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman, who are also executive producers on the show. Rob Letterman will also direct the first episode. He has previously directed the 2015 “Goosebumps” film, which was also produced by Neal H. Moritz, who is also an executive producer on the series along with Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Conor Welch of Stoller Global Solutions, and Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman of Scholastic Entertainment are also executive producing the show.
