Sony Pictures has announced its theatrical releases for its upcoming slate, which includes many Marvel films.  And due to the writer’s and actor’s strikes, Sony is also delaying a number of its upcoming films.

  • “Bad Boys 4” will be released on June 14th 2024 (which is currently also the same date as when Pixar’s “Inside Out” is released)
  • Marvel’s “Venom 3” will be released in cinemas on July 12th 2024
  • “Gran Turismo” has been delayed two weeks, from August 11th 2023 until August 25th 2023.
  • Marvel’s “Madame Web” is going to move forward a couple of days to Valentine’s Day 2024.
  • Marvel’s “Kraven The Hunter” is going to be delayed almost a year, from October 6th 2023 to August 30th 2023.
  • A new “Ghostbusters” film is delayed from December 20th 2023 until Easter, March 29th 2024.
  • Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse” has now been delayed from its Easter 2024 release and no date has been announced.
  • The “Karate Kid” reboot will be delayed by June 7th 2024 until December 13th 2024

There are two major Marvel delays, with the final installment in “Spider-Verse” trilogy no longer having a release date, but with lots more work required on this film, it’s going to need the extra time to be completed, since actors cannot do any voice work.  While “Kraven The Hunter” getting almost a year delay is going to benefit from a full marketing campaign.   These Sony films may also benefit if Marvel Studios isn’t able to get “Deadpool 3” and “Thunderbolts”, filmed in time for their 2024 releases, since they’ve both had production delayed due to the strikes over better pay and conditions.

The new “Ghostbusters” film has been finished filming, but still might require some additional reshoots.

These delays will also impact Disney’s deal with Sony for its Pay two window in the United States, where films are going to be available on Disney+ and Hulu, following a theatrical release and 18 months on Netflix.
