Earlier this year, it was reported that Lucasfilm was developing a new series based on the classic 80’s movie, Willow, for Disney+.

During a promotional press event for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Jonathan Kasdan has completed a pilot script for a Willow series.  Jonathan helped co-write Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was directed by Ron Howard, who also directed Willow.

She spoke to the Los Angeles Times about pushing for Lucasfilm to work on new material:

“I’m very excited at the possibility of being able to do things that expand our portfolio a little bit.  You realize there’s so much potential to do some pretty great things, and to expand beyond just ‘Star Wars’ is pretty exciting to think about.”

Another non-Star Wars title Lucasfilm is developing is “Children of Blood and Bone”, which is a fantasy novel by Tomi Adeyemi. And when Kathleen Kennedy discovered the film rights belonged to 20th Century Fox, which Disney was just in the process of purchasing, she phoned Fox executive Emma Watts and started co-producing the movie.

It seems that the Willow Disney+ series is still in the early stages of development but it would be a great addition to the new streaming service.
