Disney has announced that the new Latin American Original series, “Siempre Fui Yo” is coming to Disney+ in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland on Wednesday 20th July 2022.  No release date has yet been confirmed for other countries including Australia, New Zealand and Canada.  The series has been released in Latin America already.

This new series stars the Mexican actress and singer Karol Sevilla ( Soy Luna , Disney Channel), the Colombian singer Pipe Bueno and the renowned Colombian-Mexican actor Christian Tappan ( La Reina del Sur ).

Siempre Fui Yo (It Was Always Me) follows the adventures of Lupe (Sevilla), a Mexican girl whose life takes an unexpected turn when she finds out her father – El Faraón, Colombia’s greatest music star – has died, and decides to leave her native Mexico and travel to Cartagena to attend his funeral. Once there, she quickly realizes that nothing is what it seems and decides to enroll in a musical contest to be close to her father’s entourage and look into his suspicious death. Together with Noah (Bueno), a young former assistant of her father’s, Lupe embarks on a mission full of danger, romance and plenty of music to solve this mystery in the heart of the Colombian Caribbean.

The new series features original songs produced by Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres and performed by Karol Sevilla and Pipe Bueno, who are accompanied by a talented international cast.

Filming took place last summer in the Colombian cities of Bogotá and Cartagena, among others, and in the paradisiacal beach of Barú.

Also starring in the Disney+ Original is José Julián Gaviria (“Pipe”), Simón Savi (“Charly”), Antonio Sanint (“Lucas Martin”), Adriana Romero (“Wendy”), Juliana Velásquez (“Angie”), Dubán Prado ( “Sammy”), Alejandro Gutiérrez (“Kevin”), Katherine Escobar (“Mercedes”), Eliana Raventós (“Lucía”), Marisol Correa (“Cecilia”) and Felipe Botero (“Ariel”).

The new series is made up of ten 40-minute episodes, and is directed by Felipe Cano (María Magdalena, El Comandante).
