Searchlight Pictures’ “Poor Things” Coming Soon To Disney+ (Australia/New Zealand)
Disney has announced that the Searchlight Pictures film, “Poor Things”, will be coming to Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, 7th March 2024, which is the same day as when the film will also be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ in Canada.
From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.
“Poor Things” was written by Tony McNamara, based on the book by Alasdair Gray, and produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone.
With the Oscars coming up next weekend, where the film has been nominated for eleven Oscars, Disney is looking to try to boost the movie’s viewing numbers ahead of the biggest event of the year.
