Disney has announced that the upcoming Searchlight Pictures film, “Chevalier”, is going to be coming to cinemas on April 7th 2023.

The new film is based on the true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who is the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner.  Joseph Bologne, played by Kelvin Harrison Jr, rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) herself and her court.

“Chevalier” will also star Samara Weaving, Marton Csokas, Alex Fitzalan, and Minnie Driver.  It is produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Stefani Robinson, and Diane McGunigle.

We should expect to see this film released on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ around the world, once it completes its theatrical release.
