Last month, Disney launched a brand new daily “SportsCenter” spinoff show called “SC+”, which is a fast-paced show that highlights each day’s top sports moments, stories, insights and exclusive commentary in a more concise and streamlined format.

“SC+” is built around the highly popular “SC Top 10” daily countdown of sports moments. The program will deliver the most important sports news stories of the day, complemented by insights from ESPN’s top insiders and reporters.

The show is streamed live on weekday mornings at 9 a.m. ET, with each day’s edition available on demand on Disney+ for 24 hours. Gary Striewski and Randy Scott host the weekday editions of “SC+”, while also continuing to anchor the 7 a.m. ET SportsCenter on ESPN. On weekends, Hannah Storm and Jay Harris host “SC+” following their SportsCenter:AM program on ESPN, delivering a fresh and engaging look at the day’s top sports moments.

Originally, “SC+” was billed as a Disney+ exclusive show, but just six weeks after its initial launch, Disney has announced that it will be simulcasting “SC+” on the main ESPN channel at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday.

Roger’s Take: While I understand Disney’s idea of making “SC+” exclusive to Disney+ as a way of boosting interest and usage of ESPN on Disney+, especially for those casual sports fans that are using Disney+.  Unfortunately, I was never sure this idea would work and if this show would survive for too long.  Personally, this feels like a show that needs to be spread out onto as many platforms as possible to make it worthwhile and maybe also releasing it globally, while also keeping it available for longer than 24 hours, would also help with viewership.   If enough people watch “SC+” on ESPN on Thursdays and Fridays, I wouldn’t be surprised if the show eventually gets simulcast daily to make it worthwhile creating.
