“Reasonable Doubt” Renewed For A Third Season
Just one month after the season two finale of “Reasonable Doubt”, Disney’s Onyx Collective has announced that it has renewed the original drama series for a third season.
“Reasonable Doubt” centers on Los Angeles-based high-powered criminal defense attorney Jacqueline “Jax” Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) as she deals with past traumas, a struggling marriage, motherhood and a murder case, all while trying to keep her life together.
“Reasonable Doubt” was created, written and executive produced by Raamla Mohamed. Kerry Washington executive-produces alongside Pilar Savone for Simpson Street, Larry Wilmore via Wilmore Films, and Anton Cropper. The series hails from Onyx Collective and is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
It’s also been revealed that the show’s creator and showrunner, Raamla Mohamed has signed a new overall deal with 20th Television. As part of the deal, she will be developing and executive producing new comedy, drama and limited series for Disney’s linear networks and streaming platforms like Disney+ and Hulu.
“I am so incredibly excited to continue my career with Disney Entertainment Television and to have Reasonable Doubt renewed for a third season. Thank you to the teams at Onyx Collective and my new home at 20th Television for giving me the space to create this messy world with such refreshingly complicated and diverse characters. I promise to keep it spoiler free, but I can say that season three will have more Jax, more Lewis and more drama, so get ready!”
The first two seasons are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world. No details have been revealed on when the third season will be released.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to see “Reasonable Doubt” has been a big enough hit for Hulu and Disney+ that it’s been renewed within weeks of the season finale. We’ve seen so many shows cancelled over the past few years, and I was wondering about the future of the Onyx Collective since there haven’t been many announcements about new shows or renewals.
