During the Walt Disney Companies Investor Day event, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter officially announced that Pixar would be releasing an all-new series featuring the characters from the “Cars” franchise.

Cars, coming to Disney+ in Fall 2022 and follows Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater on a cross-country road trip. These episodes are filled with lots of fun new characters, imaginative destinations as well as old friends checking in along the way.

The series is written by Steve Purcell and produced by Marc Sondheimer.

The show previously been revealed at a Pixar car event a couple of years ago, but was never officially revealed until now.
