Pixar “Elemental” Series Reportedly In Development For Disney+
This summer, Pixar released a brand new original film, “Elemental” in cinemas, which had a bumpy start at the box office on its opening weekend, but through good word of mouth, the film has gone on to become one of the most successful films of the summer, pulling in almost $500 million.
“Elemental” is set in Element City, where residents of Fire, Water, Earth and Air live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.
During a recent episode of Puck’s Podcast “The Town”, Jeff Bock from Exhibitor Relations revealed that Pixar is creating an “Elemental” series for Disney+, and maybe even a sequel is in development.
Officially, Disney hasn’t announced that they are creating an “Elemental” series for Disney+ and with no information on this project currently out there, we don’t know if this is just a series of shorts like “Cars On The Road” or a full series like the upcoming “Win Or Lose”.
With the impending Disney+ release of “Elemental”, the film will likely go on to find a bigger audience, where Disney will no doubt be looking at the data to see if there is demand for further adventures of Wade and Ember. The setting of “Elemental” is also very easy to expand to other characters from the four elements, and Disney could easily expand “Elemental” into a popular franchise with further shorts, series or films.
