20th Television is developing a new half-hour comedy series called “Chad Powers”, which is based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+.

When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.

The new series is going to star Glen Powell as Chad Powers and he will also be an a writer and executive producer on the show, along with Michael Waldron, who have co-wrote the pilot. Eli Manning will also be serving as an executive producer along with Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN.

Deadline has revealed that Perry Mattfeld and Frankie A. Rodriguez have joined the cast of this new comedy series.

Perry Mattfeld will play Ricky, a promising new assistant on the sideline of her father’s embattled college football team. She’s as sharp as she is tough, and becomes immediately suspicious of the team’s odd new quarterback, Chad Powers. Perry Mattfeld has previously starred in “Shameless” and “In The Dark”.

Frankie A. Rodriguez will be playing the role of Danny, who is the team mascot, a young actor on campus who will do absolutely anything to make his big dreams come true. He strikes up a friendship with Chad Powers that could wind up helping or destroying them both. Frankie A. Rodriguez has previously starred in the Disney+ Original series, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”.

It was also revealed earlier this week that Steve Zahn will be playing the role of Jake Hudson, the charismatic Head Coach of the show’s flagging college football program. He’s about to be put out to pasture when along comes the talented oddball Chad Powers (Powell) – and with him, one last shot at glory.

“Chad Powers” will be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and it will likely also be released as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
