One of the most eagerly anticipated series currently in development for Disney+ is “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, which is based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

The new series will star Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, along with Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries. Also starring in the series are Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, and Jessica Parker Kennedy, along with Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Jay Duplass, Timothy Omundson, and Timm Sharp, as well as Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, and Olivea Morton.

Recently, Rick Riordan,  the books creator and executive producer on the upcoming Disney+ series, took to Mastodon to share a little thought on how Adam Copeland, aka WWE Hall Of Famer, Edge, is performing in the show.

I’m thinking about this because of some great scenes Adam Copeland has filmed for us recently as Ares, the god of war. As they used to say on the monster truck rally commercials of my youth: “You can pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the Edge!”

Earlier in the week, Rick shared another update on the creation of the show:

I love watching our actors shoot this really serious scene, all the drama, and then someone drops a prop and they try so hard not to laugh. We’ll have to save that for the blooper reel.

Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg will serve as writers of the pilot, and James Bobin will direct. Steinberg will oversee the series with his producing partner Dan Shotz. Steinberg and Shotz serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson and The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg.

Back at the D23 Expo in September, a short teaser trailer of the new series was revealed:
