At last years D23 Expo event, Ewan McGregor announced that he would be returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new series on Disney+.

The series was due to begin filming earlier this year but was delayed because of script issues and then the Coronavirus hit, causing more issues.

While promoting his new Apple TV+ series, Long Way Up, , Ewan McGregor spoke with Entertainment Tonight and spoke briefly about the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series.

“Spring next year we start.  I’m really excited about it. It’s gonna be great, I think.”

He also was asked if there would be a second series of Obi-Wan, where he said:

“As I understand, it’s a standalone season. We’ll see. Who knows?”

The new Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be directed by Deborah Chow and is set 8 years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith”.
