
Noah Emmerich, Kathleen Wilhoite & Tommy Dewey To Star In Hulu’s “Murdaugh Murders”
UCP is developing a brand new untitled limited series based on the “Murdaugh Murders” for Hulu that is based on Maggie and Alex Murdaugh’s stranger-than-fiction family drama, a riveting account drawing from countless hours of reporting by Mandy Matney – journalist and creator of the popular “Murdaugh Murders Podcast” – as well as exclusive, insider knowledge from years spent following the case.
The upcoming series is going to star Patricia Arquette in the role of Maggie Murdaugh. with Jason Clarke, playing the role of Alex Murdaugh, who murdered his wife, Maggie and son. Also set to star in the show will be Johnny Berchtold and Will Harrison who will play Paul and Buster Murdaugh, along with Brittany Snow, who will play the role of a journalist called Mandy Matney.
Deadline has revealed that Noah Emmerich, Kathleen Wilhoite and Tommy Dewey have joined the cast of the untitled limited series.
Noah Emmerich will play the role of Randy Murdaugh. Strait-laced and by the book, he is the antithesis to his wild card younger brother Alex in life and in the legal profession. Their wildly different approaches have led to a lifetime of locking horns as they jockey for their father Randolph’s affection and approval. Noah has previously starred in “The Truman Show”, “The Americans” and “The Hot Zone”.
Kathleen Wilhoite will be playing Gloria Satterfield, who is the Murdaughs’ loyal and doting housekeeper for decades, Gloria helped raise Buster and Paul from infancy. Deeply religious with two grown sons of her own, Gloria tirelessly and gracefully puts the Murdaughs and their troubles above all else, even her own well-being. Kathleen has previously appeared in “Gilmore Girls”, “Summer Camp Island” and “Yellowstone”.
Tommy Dewey is going to be playing the role of Mark Tinsley. Dashing, confident, smart, and connected, Mark Tinsley is a prosecutor who’s an old hunting buddy of Alex’s and is now representing the parents of the girl who lost her life in the boat accident. Tommy has previously starred in “Your Monster” and “Saturday Night”.
Michael D. Fuller will be the showrunner and co-creator of this new series, having previously worked on “Quarry,” “Rectify” and “Locke & Key”. The other co-create on the series is Erin Lee Carr, who has previously worked on “Britney vs Spears,” “I Love You, Now Die” and “Mommy Dead and Dearest”. Nick Antosca (“A Friend of the Family,” “The Act” and “Candy”) and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat will executive produce along with Mandy Matney.
UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, will be the studio creating the show. They have previously worked with Hulu on the limited series, “The Act” and “Candy”.
No release details have been revealed for when it will be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. Since UCP is the studio, it’s unclear if Disney will have the global distribution rights to release the series as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
