Today, Disney has released the new Searchlight Pictures film, “Next Goal Wins”, on digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu, to purchase in the United States.

Based on a true story, this heartfelt underdog comedy follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup qualifiers fast approaching, the team hires down-on-his- luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender), hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team into winners.

The film comes from Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, who has previously created “Thor: Ragnarok”, “Jojo Rabbit”, and “What We Do In The Shadows”.

The film will also be released on physical media, including Blu-ray and DVD, on February 27th 2024, with never-before-seen bonus content, including Taika Waititi’s homage to American Samoa, Polynesian culture, and sports movies.   Expect to see “Next Goal Wins” released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ around the same time.

Internationally, since the film has had a staggered worldwide release, it has only recently been released in cinemas, so expect it to be another month or two before it is released digitally and on Disney+ outside of the US.
