Earlier this summer, Marvel Studios was filming the new Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again”, in New York, until the show was hit with delay, at first from the writer’s strike, before eventually having production shut down entirely when the actor’s strike began.

According to a new copyright listing by Marvel Studios for the show, we’ve got some more details on the upcoming Disney+ series, including some casting details.   The official description for the episode states:

Marvel Studios presents “Daredevil” in which longtime rivals Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D?Onofrio) try to leave behind their darker alter-egos to serve the people of New York only to have their pasts catch up to them. In the first episode of the series we are reintroduced to the world of Daredevil.

Other information revealed by the copyright listing is that Michael Cuesta is directing the first episode in the series, which was initially announced to be the longest-running Marvel Studios show, with 18 episodes, which is three times the usual Marvel Studios series episode length.   Michael Cuesta has previously directed episodes of “Dopesick”, “Billions”, “Dexter” and “True Blood”.

The listing also confirmed some of the cast of the upcoming series, which includes:

  • Charlie Cox as Daredevil
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin
  • Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle
  • Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn
  • Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blade
  • Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk
  • Nikki M James as Kirsten McDuffie
  • Genneya Walton as BB Urich
  • Clark Johnson as Cherry
  • Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman
  • Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera

Originally at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the show was announced to be coming to Disney+ in 2024, but with filming delayed due to the strikes, the show looks like it has been pushed back to early 2025.   But any release date could change, especially with the continued delays from the strikes and with Disney stretching out its Marvel Studios releases to save money, increase the quality of new releases and reduce superhero fatigue that is currently impacting Marvel projects.

Hopefully, filming can resume on “Daredevil: Born Again” later this year, once the actor’s strike is resolved, but in the meantime, you can check out the “Daredevil” show on Disney+ now.  And in the New Year, Disney+ will be releasing “Echo”, which will also feature both Daredevil and the Kingpin!
