With the actor’s strike now over, Hollywood is getting itself prepped and ready to return to work, and one of the series set to return to filming very soon is the upcoming new season of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” aka the seventeenth season of hit series “Criminal Minds”.

The series is about an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. As the team evolves together, the Behavioral Analysis Unit continues its dedication to using its expertise to pinpoint predators’ motivations and identify their emotional triggers in an attempt to stop them.

In the latest season, “Evolution”, the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers comes up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.

Original cast members continuing their roles include Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. Zach Gilford joined the dynamic cast this season as a recurring guest star in a season-long arc.

The show’s star, Paget Brewster, took to social media to confirm that filming on the upcoming new ten-episode season is due to begin in mid-January.

We start filming mid January at a break neck pace to get episodes to you ASAP! We all hope you will watch and love them!

Initially, the new season was going to be filmed earlier this year, but due to the strikes, everything got delayed. 

The revival series returned to our screens last Thanksgiving, and hopefully, if there are no more delays, we should see the new season arrive by the end of next year.

Erica Messer (“Criminal Minds,” “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders”) serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw and Mark Gordon also executive producing.

“Criminal Minds” is a co-production between Disney’s ABC Signature Studios and Paramount’s CBS Studios. In the United States, the latest season is available on Paramount+, and the previous fifteen seasons are also available on Hulu.  The show is one of the most popular shows available on streaming, regularly popping up in the Nielsen streaming charts.

Internationally, “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is released exclusively on Disney+.
