Just a day after it was revealed that Oscar Isaac is in negotiations to play Moon Knight in the upcoming Marvel’s Disney+ series, now Deadline is reporting that Mohahmed Diab has joined the series as a director.

The Egyptian filmmaker has previously directed Clash and El Gezira 2, which are some of the highest-grossing films in the Arabic and Egyptian film market.

Moon Knight is a mercenary who is struggling with multiple personalities and amoral inclinations.  He is also a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.  With Mohahmed’s Egyptian background, this looks to be a good fit for the show, bringing more authenticity to the show.

The new series will be lead by Jeremy Slater, who will be developing the show, along with leading the writing team.  He has previously worked on Netflix’s “Umbrella Academy”.

No Disney+ release date for Moon Knight has yet been officially announced.
