Maxwell Simkins & Barrett Margolis To Star In “Shifting Gears”
20th Television is developing a pilot for a brand-new multi-camera comedy. The project, which is currently being worked on by the title “Shifting Gears,” will star Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, both of whom will also be producing it.
This new pilot is going to star Tim Allen, who will be playing the lead role of Matt, who is the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley, who is played by Kat Denning, who is now divorced and forced to move back in with her dad’s house, along with her two teenage kids.
Deadline has revealed that Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis have joined the cast, which also includes Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Froy Gutierrez.
Maxwell Simkins will play Carter, who is the son of Riley and Matt’s grandson. Maxwell has previously starred in the Disney+ Original series, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”. He has also starred in the Disney Channel series “Bizaardvark”.
Barrett Margolis will play the role of Georgia, who is Riley’s daughter and Matt’s granddaughter. This will be Barrett’s first role.
Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully are writing the show. They will also executive produce along with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina. Also executive producing and directing the series is John Pasquin, who has previously worked on “Home Improvement” and “The Santa Clauses”.
“Shifting Gears” is being developed as a pilot for ABC, so should the pilot get picked up for a series, we should expect to see it released on the ABC linear channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, and released as a Star Original exclusively on Disney+ internationally.
