Matt Damon Heads To Australia To Film “Thor: Love & Thunder”
Filming on the fourth Thor Marvel movie, “Thor: Love and Thunder” is underway this month in Australia and according to News.com.au, Matt Damon and his family arrived in Sydney recently on a private jet. They will be required to quarantine and will do so in a private facility.
Matt Damon did have a cameo in “Thor: Ragnarok”, where he played an actor playing Loki in a stage play in Asgard. It’s unknown if he will be playing the same character with a bigger role or if its a new character.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison also confirmed the casting: “Hollywood superstar Matt Damon joining our homegrown talent to film such a major movie in NSW is a big win creating thousands of jobs for locals”.
Matt Damon told local reporters:
“Australian film crews are world renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it. I’d like to thank the enormous support provided by the NSW government and Australian government, without which this would not have been possible.”
Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has also confirmed on an Instagram story that she was prepping to appear in the new film as well.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is set to open in cinemas on May 6th, 2022. The film will be directed by Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok.
Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson are returning to their roles and will be joined by Christian Bale, who will be portraying the villain Gorr the God Butcher. The other members of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” are also going to be appearing in the film including Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff and David Bautista.
