After four years, Disney is looking to bring back the game show, “Match Game”, but this time with Martin Short taking over the role of the host.

“Match Game” originally debuted back in 1962 and it ran until 1969, with the show being revived again in 1973, 1998 and 2016. Over the years the show has aired on many networks including CBS, NBC and ABC, with a number of different hosts, with Alec Baldwin being the last host when the show ended in 2021.

The new show will feature four contestants, who each week vye for a chance to win $25,000, as they attempt to match the answers of six celebrities in a game of fill-in-the-blank.

“Match Game” is going to be produced by FremantleMedia North America with Short and Alycia Rossiter, who has previously executive produced series including “Generation Gap” and “Supermarket Sweep”.

While the show was previously filmed in New York, the new revived version will be filmed in Montreal, Canada

Baldwin’s version of the show regularly aired on Sunday nights alongside Celebrity Family Feud and The $100,000 Pyramid on ABC’s Sunday Fun and Games strand but it’s not clear where this new iteration will be scheduled.

That version was also filmed in New York, where the original 1960s show had filmed, but this new version will be shot in Montreal, Canada.

This new game show will be part of ABC’s upcoming summer schedule along with other long running unscripted shows like “The Golden Bachelor” and “Dancing with the Stars”. As with other game shows on ABC, it will also be available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. However, as with other ABC game shows, it’ll be very unlikely to be released internationally on Disney+.
