One of the many projects that have been in development by Marvel Studios for Disney+ for a while is “Nova”, which will introduce the cosmic superhero, Richard Rider, into the MCU.

Richard was randomly chosen to become a member of the Nova Corps until the Annihilation Wave destroyed them all, leaving him imbued with their combined power and guided by the super-intelligent Worldmind computer, Richard Rider wages a one-man battle for justice as Nova.

Development on the project has been underway for a while, and officially, Disney hasn’t announced its plan for “Nova”, such as if it is a series like “Moon Knight” or a special presentation like “Werewolf By Night”.

Unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait a little longer, as with the return of Bob Iger as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, there has been a massive shift within the company to make Disney+ profitable. This means that the previously announced release schedule for upcoming Marvel shows for Disney+ has been hit with some significant rescheduling, which might see only two series (“Secret Invasion” and the second season of “Loki”) released in 2023, with other previously announced shows being pushed back into 2024 and beyond.

Because of this restructuring of the release schedule, according to the Hollywood Reporter, some of the shows in development, such as “Nova”, are now on a slower path. This is simply because with “Daredevil: Born Again”, “Agatha: Coven Of Chaos” and “Wonder Man” filming over the next few months, along with “Echo” and “Ironheart” already filmed, Disney is in no need of a “Nova” series or special presentation, any time soon.

This delay has some advantages, since they will obviously have more time to develop the story and find the right actor to play the role.
