Disney has announced that the Marvel film, “Morbius” will be coming to Disney+ in the United States following the completion of its Pay One Deal with Netflix on Friday 1st March 2024.

One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to our screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

“Morbius” was directed by Daniel Espinosa and features a story and screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless.

The film was originally released by Sony Pictures, which has the rights to make films based on characters from the “Spider-Man” comic books due to a contract made years ago before Disney purchased Marvel.

Back in 2021, Disney signed a new multi-year agreement with Sony for the United States that gives Disney access to Sony’s theatrical releases between 2022 and 2026 following a Pay 1 TV window on Netflix.    And with “Morbius” leaving Netflix later this month, Disney can now take advantage of having a new Marvel.
