Marvel has teamed up with the Mexican Wrestling Promotion, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, for a brand new Disney+ Original series, called “El Origen De La Mascara”.

The new series was revealed during the pre-shot of AAA’s event, TripleMania XXX: CDMX, where the first trailer was shown. This new series features wrestling matches, but with wrestlers in outfits that are inspired by Marvel Super Heroes.

Marvel and AAA have been working together on other projects for years, including merchandise and Funko Pop Vinyls that feature Marvel characters like Captain America, Spider-Man, Thanos, and Venom, but reimagined as Mexican luchadors.

Back at the Triplemania XXVIII event in 2020, there was an event filmed behind closed doors, which saw the technical wrestlers, El Aracno and El Leyenda Americana, and the tough wrestlers, El Terror Purpura and El Venenoide meeting for the first time.

This wouldn’t be the first wrestling-related content on Disney+, as earlier this year, the Disney Channel debuted a new show called “Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion,” and the WWE Network is available on Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia.

“El Origen De La Mascara” will be coming to Disney+ in Mexico from December 21st 2022. It’s unclear if the show will be released on Disney+ in other countries.  The official trailer will be released on Monday, confirming the series is coming to Disney+ in December in Mexico.
