Way back at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, Marvel Studios announced it was going to create a brand new film featuring Blade, which will star Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter.

However, since then, the project has gone through many delays, with changes to the writing team and a shift in directors, with “Lovecraft Country” director Yann Demange taking over.

Originally, the film was going to be released in cinemas on November 3rd 2023, but was pushed back to September 2024, but since the actor’s strike, its now been delayed to November 7th 2025.

Recently, Mahershala Ali spoke with EW to promote his new Netflix project, “Leave The World Behind” and said:

“I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon. We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you. I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon.”

He added:

“I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that. So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.”

Mahershala Ali has already made a brief cameo in the post-credit scene in “Eternals”, but hopefully, production on the new Marvel film will begin next year, and this project can finally bring Mahershala Ali to our screens as Blade.
