Nielsen has announced its top 10 streaming charts for the United States from May 13th, 2024, to May 19th. There are four different charts: Top 10 Originals, Acquired Shows, Movies, and a combined total chart.

Sony’s “Madame Web”, which is based on Marvel’s “Spider-Man” comic book, was released on Netflix as part of its pay-one window (it’ll be coming to Disney+ in the US in around 18 months).  The movie jumped straight to the top of the movie chart, highlighting how people are much more willing to give a movie a go when it is included in a subscription and likely also many people who skipped it at the cinema.

While Disney has no originals on this week’s Nielsen chart, Disney dominates the acquired chart with eight out of ten shows available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.   And this also impacts the overall chart, as half of the shows are available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

“Bluey” continues to be a massive hit for Disney+, especially with the new episodes dropping throughout April.  Hulu is also doing very well in the overall and acquired charts with popular shows like  “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Family Guy”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “The Resident”, “White Collar”, and “Criminal Minds” continuing to attract millions of minutes of viewing time.
