“Loki” Executive Producer Has Ideas For A Third Season
Earlier this month, Marvel Studios released the second season of “Loki” on Disney+, which picked up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.
At the end of the second season, Loki had taken his place upon a throne in the middle of the World Tree, aka Yggdrasill from Norse mythology. There, Loki, had worked out how to save all the branching timelines, while the TVA continued to track down the Kang variants, leaving the door open for potential further seasons.
Recently, “Loki” executive producer Kevin Wright spoke with TVLine and revealed how it could be possible to continue the story of Loki and the TVA
“For two seasons, I’ve loved working with this team… I would love to keep telling those stories with them, in this world. I don’t think any of us would ever want to rush into a Season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell. But I think this team could go off and tell other stories. Maybe it’s not Loki Season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our Better Call Saul to Loki‘s Breaking Bad. That would be cool, to me.”
Kevin quickly pointed out that these are just early brainstorming sessions about what he would love to do since nothing has been officially announced regarding a third season of “Loki” or a spin-off series about the TVA.
“I don’t know the future of these characters in the MCU.”
He also added that he would like to see what other filmmakers could do by continuing to tell stories in this world.
With the way that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is interlinked, we are very likely to see Loki and other members of the TVA turning up in further shows or films. Marvel is also looking to make more shows with multiple seasons.
However, with Marvel Studios cutting back on how many projects it makes each year, to improve the quality, reduce superhero fatigue and cut costs, with the season finale, it feels like Loki is in a position to be left alone for a while.
In the meantime, you can find both seasons of “Loki” plus previous movies starring the God Of Mischief on Disney+ now.
