Filming is currently underway on the second season of the Marvel original series, “Daredevil: Born Again” and today, during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York City, it was confirmed that Krysten Ritter will be returning to reprise her role of Jessica Jones.

In Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

She originally played the character in the “Jessica Jones” series, which ran for two seasons on Netflix, before teaming up with the other “Defenders”, which include Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil.

Krysten said to the audience at the Upfront event in New York:

“It is so great to be back. Returning to Jessica after three seasons, and the Defenders and now joining the MCU. I am so excited to bring back this iconic character. Without giving too much away… there’s much in store for Jessica Jones – this is going to be an incredible season”.

During the same event, Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, also revealed some details on the upcoming second season:

“Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again was an incredible experience, and the response from fans and audiences has been overwhelming. The good news is we’re just getting started. We’re currently shooting Season 2, and it is heading in a bold new direction. I’m excited to finally suit up in the iconic black Daredevil suit – complete with the interlocking Ds on the chest. It’s something fans have been asking me about for over a decade, and that’s just the beginning of what we’ve got in store this season.”

The new “Daredevil: Born Again” series also saw many other actors return from the former Netflix shows, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen. 

You can watch the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again”, along with “The Defenders” and “Jessica Jones” on Disney+ now. The second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to premiere on Disney+ in early 2026.

Roger’s Take: Ever since Marvel decided to stop messing about with the idea that the former Netflix shows might not be canon to the MCU (even though they reference the events of the “Avengers” film), there has been hope that some of the other characters might return to our screens.  With Marvel once again trying to seperate television and movies, taking The Defenders team over to Disney+ for future shows sounds like a great step in restoring the balance between big screen adventures and smaller street level heroes.
