During a special Asia-Pacific showcase event, Disney has announced a brand new romantic melodrama series called “Snowdrop”.

This new series will star top Korean actor Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo.

It will be told by the creators behind the 2019 K-drama mega-hit “Skycastle,” Yoo Hyun-mi and Jo Hyun-tak
, who will be also be directing the series.

“Snowdrop” is a heartwarming story of a young couple set in Seoul in the late 1980s, during the 1987 Democracy Movement, which was a mass protest movement with the purpose of forcing the then-current authoritarian government in South Korea to hold fair elections.  The girl hides him from the government in her dorm room at her women’s university.  The two fall in love, and find themselves caught in a tangled web of intrigue and upheaval.

Disney+ is launching in South Korea on November 12th and is part of a big drive in the Asia-Pacific region to create original content for subscriber growth.

“Snowdrop” is one of the most highly anticipated dramas of the year and is set to arrive on Disney+ in December.

Disney is planning on releasing most of its local originals internationally on Disney+.  Luke Kang, president of Disney Asia Pacific.
