Kat Denning To Star In New Comedy Pilot “Shifting Gears”
Recently it was revealed that 20th Television was developing a pilot for a brand-new multi-camera comedy, which is currently going by the working title of “Shifting Gears”.
This new pilot is going to star Tim Allen, who will be playing the lead role of Matt, who is the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.
Deadline is reporting that Kat Dennings has joined the cast and will play Riley. Kat is most known for her roles in the comedy series “2 Broke Girls” and “Dollface”. She has also starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Thor movies and the “WandaVision” Disney+ series. Dennings will be a producer on the project.
Kat’s role of Riley butted heads with her father growing up and left to marry the boyfriend he hated. Now divorced, Riley’s forced to move back home with two kids, hoping she and her dad can make it work this time.
Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully are writing the show. They will also executive produce along with Tim Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina.
“Shifting Gears” is being developed as a pilot for ABC, so should the pilot get picked up for a series, we should expect to see it released on the ABC linear channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, and released as a Star Original exclusively on Disney+ internationally.
