Judy Reyes To Return For “Scrubs” Revival

20 Television is currently creating a revival of the hit comedy series, “Scrubs”, which was recently given a series order from ABC.

The original “Scrubs” series ran for nine seasons and followed intern John Dorian, who starts his medical career in a hospital crammed with unpredictable staffers and patients. His experiences teach him about the profession, friendship and life.

It starred Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, who will all be returning for the upcoming revival, which will follow JD (Braff) and Turk (Faison), who scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way.

Deadline has revealed that Judy Reyes will also be returning for the upcoming revival, where she will reprise her role of Carla Espinosa, who is the head nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital.

There had been reports of her returning, but due to Judy working as a series regular on another ABC show, “High Potential”, it’s been organised that she can appear in the new “Scrubs” series, though in a special recurring guest star role.

The new “Scrubs” series is being created by Bill Lawrence, who is an executive producer, alongside Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra; who will the showrunners on the project. Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer will also EP the reboot on behalf of Lawrence’s production company, Doozer.

No release date has yet been announced for the new season of “Scrubs”, but expect to see it released on the ABC linear channel in the United States, along with Disney+ around the world. The previous seasons of “Scrubs” are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.

Roger’s Take: It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to see Judy Reyes returning for the revival, since she’s working with 20th Television on “High Potential”, so while it might be a bit hard for the schedulers, it would have likely been much harder, had she been working on another show for another studio.
