Jon M.Chu In Talks To Direct “Lilo & Stitch” Live-Action Film
New details on the upcoming live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch” have been revealed by the Hollywood Reporter. They are reporting that Jon M. Chu is in talks to direct the movie.
He has previously directed “Crazy Rich Asians” and recently, it was announced that Jon M.Chu is set to direct the upcoming Willow Disney+ series pilot, and will also serve as executive producer on the show.
Disney hasn’t yet officially announced if this new movie will be coming to Disney+ first or if it will be released in cinemas first.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback are producing the film, with Ryan Halprin serving as an executive producer. This team have been behind the live-action version of “Aladdin”, which was a massive success for Disney.
No cast members or writers for the live-action version have yet been revealed.
In the original animated movie, Stitch, a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet, wreaks havoc on the Hawaiian Islands, he becomes the mischievous adopted alien “puppy” of an independent little girl named Lilo and learns about loyalty, friendship, and ‘ohana, the Hawaiian tradition of family.
The original movie, along with its sequels and animated series are available now on Disney+.
