This April, a brand new film starring Zendeya, called “Challengers” is coming to cinemas around the world.

The film tells the story of Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak, Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick– his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.

“Challengers” has been directed by Luca Guadagnino and also stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.

When Is “Challengers” Released?

“Challengers” is being released exclusively in cinemas on April 26th 2024. Following its theatrical release, it will then be released on digital platforms like Apple, Amazon, and Vudu for purchase/rent before being released on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-Ray.

When Will “Challengers” Be On Disney+?

“Challengers” has a unique distribution model. Amazon’s MGM has the rights to release the film in the United States, while Warner Brothers Discovery has the international rights.

This means the streaming release is going to be a little more complicated, with Amazon owning MGM+ and Prime Video and Warner owning Max, plus some existing contracts still being in place.

Since none of Disney’s studios is releasing the movie, it won’t automatically come to Disney+ following its theatrical and digital release.

However, Disney does have a licensing deal with Warner Brothers Discovery that means some titledare available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, these generally don’t include new movies for years and so it might be possible that the current deal has expired before then.
